dots JT Document Converter accepts native file formats
With dots JT Document Converter end users can upload documents in their native file format into dots iSWT 4 without any prior conversion to PDF or Postscript.
To order print jobs via dots iSWT 4 end users usually need to upload PDF or Postscript files into the online print shop. Another way is to install the dots JT Web Printer on the end user’s desktop PC. This enables them to send their print job directly from the application the document was created with to dots iSWT 4.
This works well as long as end users are willing or allowed to install software on their machines. If you try to attract customers in a highly competitive market or if you have end users in an environment with a rigid security policy (think of banks, insurances etc.) this is often not an option. You can either restrict these customers to the PDF/PS upload into dots iSWT 4 or you can gain higher customer satisfaction with dots JT Document Converter.
What does the dots JT Document Converter do?
Basically it removes one step for the user and by that it removes one error source: Converting the native file format into PDF or Postscript. The benefit for the customer is increased usability because they do not need to convert the document into a printable form. Instead they can upload up to 300 different file formats directly to dots iSWT 4. The benefit for the print room is a reduction of malformed PDFs and an increased user acceptance.
Requirements
As first step the dots JT Document Converter has to be installed on the dots-iSWT 4-server.
In order to accept other formats besides PDF and PS a version of the source application needs to be installed on the dots-iSWT 4-server in a second step. If, for example, your customers use MS Office or Adobe's Creative Suite, you need to install a licensed version of either on the server to accept these file formats in dots iSWT 4.
Benefits
- No need to install software on individual client PCs.
- Simplified data submission from client PCs, without prior conversion to Postscript or PDF.
